Kone Foundation is a significant and active source of funding for arts and humanities. Their yearly grants have steadily increased in total, and they pride themselves in supporting bold initiatives in research and arts, as well as, multidisciplinary work.
They had a renewed visual identity but only introduced it in their annual report and newsletter. In order to communicate their vision, mission and the kinds of projects they support, they wanted a completely new digital service. Usability, visual compellingness and plenty of opportunities to showcase the supported projects of researchers and artists were the goal. It was important to present the foundation as a forerunner in the field and active partner for their supportees.
We started from the new identity and futher developed their typeface choice. With written content that one could describe as plentiful, we opted for a structure that was sleek and airy with bold images. Long and winding text could be harmonized with compelling photographs. The navigation structure was kept simple. White space calms everything down and brand colors were used to accentuate details and content segments.
The result is a bold website unique to the field of a funding organizations.
